Around 20 days from China to Northern Europe – via the Arctic Ocean
The Arctic Express is back, but only for a limited time. Between August and October 2026, a total of just 8 to 10 departures are planned.
The route connects China’s east coast with Northern Europe via the Arctic Ocean, bypassing the Suez Canal.
The service is particularly interesting for shipments where traditional ocean freight takes too long and a short transit time is important.
- Fast transit time: approx. 20 days from Ningbo to Rotterdam
- Battery transportation possible (with MSDS & certification)
- Suitable for goods that are often subject to restrictions on other routes
- Ideal for high-value, sensitive and time-critical cargo
- Shorter distance compared to the route via Africa
The possibility of transporting batteries and other sensitive goods on such a fast ocean route makes the Arctic Express an unusual alternative for selected shipments from China.
But the opportunity is limited: after October, the Arctic season is over.
